Dear Ms Li:
RE: Character refree-- Rai Ong
I am writing in response of your vacancy for air stewards on the new A5000. My close friend Rai Ong has requested for me to be his character refree. Rai fits all the descriptions you desire. He is polite , punctual and learns new skills quickly. He is also a good team player and is able to stay calm in a range of circumstances.
When we were in university, there was a fire. Instead of running around hysterically, Rai remained calm and helped people evacuate the building. This shows an excellent demostration of being able to stay calm in undesired circumstances.
Rai is currently working as an insurance agent. He manages to close almost deal he makes because he is eloquent, polite and honest. However, Rai would like to expose himself to a differnt field of expetise as he has an adventurous disposition, thus the reason for this job application. I can assure you he will be a valuable addition to your splendid professional air stewards and stewardesses.
Also, Rai can speak Korean, Japanese, French and of course English and Chinese very fluently. His knowledge will further enhance your services as he is able to communicate effectively with some of the passengers in their own native tongue if they cannot speak English.
In recapitulation, Rai is the perfect candidate for this job. If you should require futher queries, please do not hesiatate to contact me on my mobile or email as stated above.
Yours Sincerely,
Tristen Ng

Dear Ms Li,
RE: Request for RE: Character reference—Johnny Tan
I am replying to your request for a well-presented staff for the new A5000. I am going to be Johnny Tan’s character referee. I have known Johnny Tan for about 10 years since junior collage. He has all the qualities you requested for and I am sure that he is very suited for this job.
He is currently working in the office line and has a lot of experience with dealing with people. He is very polite and is an extremely fast learner, knowing many languages such as Japanese, German, Chinese and English. This will help tremendously when trying to communicate with passengers who cannot speak English. He is always punctual in what ever he does, never late for class or anything he needs to attend, and is able to handle stress very well. When working in a team, he is always the one doing the most work, contributing whatever he can and the product is always of high quality. This shows that he is a good team player and is very smart.
He also has the ability to stay calm in many circumstances. When he has a deadline to meet and it seems that it is not possible to accomplish, everybody will panic while he stays calm, and he will always manage to complete the task done and well.
In a nutshell, he is the perfect person for this job. If you have any more queries, please feel free to contact me anytime you want on my telephone number or email account as mentioned above.
Thank you.
Yours Sincerely,
Joejyn Wan

Dear Ms Li
RE: Reply for request of referral letter
I am replying your request for a referral letter on Jackie Tan. My friend named Jackie Tan has worked with me as a sales person at ABC shop for six years. He is a very well-mannered and polite gentleman. He was awarded the best sales person award for 2006. There was a time when the cashier of the shop was on medical leave and Mr. Jackie Tan volunteered to take up that job for that day. He is also a very punctual sales person. He will always reach the designated area five minutes before the assigned time.
Something interesting about him is that he is ever willing to learn new skills. He is currently taking his diploma at the National Polytechnic. Mr. Jackie Tan is also the captain of a soccer team that he has formed with a group of friends, thus, it is observable that he is a team player. Even when his team is losing he always encourages his team mates not to give up. He is also very calm under difficult circumstances. There was one during a seminar where the caterers did not bring the food. He managed to get some doughnuts for the participants with getting panicked.
This is just a brief description of him. If you need more information feel free to contact me at 9214 1995 or e-mail me at mvdd@hotmail.com. Thank you for taking to read this letter. I hope that you will consider him as a worthy applicant for this post.
Yours faithfully
Mr. Vincent Teo

Dear Ms Li,
RE: Recommending my friend to be an air steward on the new A5000
I am recommending my friend, Cephas, to be an air steward on the A5000 because he suits the description for the desired kind of staff you want. He is also interested in this kind of job. He is extremely polite and well liked by many. He is fluent in thirteen languages, and being able to communicate in thirteen different languages is definitely useful in talking to the passengers.
He currently works in a high-class restaurant, and he is a valuable staff to his boss. If you accept him, he would quit his old job and join the air steward job although his current pay is quite high. He will definitely be of great help to you.
However, he does have a weakness: he tends to bend towards other people’s will, like he once spilt some water on a customer’s lap and when the unreasonable
customer demanded three bottles of expensive wine as compensation, he did give the wines to the customer, insisting that he really should pay the customer back. When the boss did not agree to give away the wines, Cephas actually forked out his own money to buy the wines and gave them to the customer. Thus, you can see how weak willed he is. Still, his good points outnumber his weaknesses.
Overall, Cephas is a good candidate for this job and I hope you will let him be an air steward in the A5000. Please think over your decision carefully.
Yours faithfully,
Chin Wei
